From the Cider Farm
Somerset is one of the biggest cider producing counties in the UK and many varieties of this popular drink is made throughout the county. There are many farm shops attached to the cider-making farms, and we’ve listed the best below.
Where: Myrtle Farm, Sandford, Somerset, BS25 5RA
You’ll find all the famous ciders, limited editions, gifts and other produce from the local area. Alongside the cider, you’ll find delicious local cheeses and chutneys, books, cider mugs, glasses, and even the latest range of t-shirts and clothing.
If you can’t get to the shop, you can buy the clothing and the world famous cider online.
Check out The Railway Inn next door, the award-winning pub and restaurant. It’s conveniently situated on the ‘Strawberry Line’ National Cycle Network, it has a large, family-friendly outdoor space, country pub lounge and is perfect for foodies and cider lovers! There are regular events including live bands and a Wassail in January.

At the heart of Sheppy’s Cider Farm stands a beautiful cider mill which has been restored to what is now the House of Cider. This is now home to an award-winning Farm Shop, Deli, Butchery, Café, Restaurant and bar selling a variety of local specialities. In the former apple pressing rooms, the farm shop is home to a cheesemonger, cider store, and also sells award-winning gins, meat, hampers and gift sets, and many excellent locally produced Somerset products.
Set in 90 acres of orchards, Sheppy’s Cider Farm has a lovely outdoor space for visitors with signed walks around the orchards and duck pond, children’s play ground, animal encounters on offer, and of course the cider production area. Why not grab something delicious from the deli and find a secluded spot to have a picnic?

The old barrel room has been transformed into a Farm Shop, stocking their cider and other locally sourced produce. You can also try their cider at the same time!
Bray’s cider is made using traditional methods and the apples sourced within a 5-mile radius of the farm in Somerset. A range of ciders have been crafted, from traditional farmhouse to sparkling Elderflower, all pressed and bottled on the farm by a small team of husband, wife, family and friends.

Perry’s Cider Farm is set in a picturesque village in the heart of Somerset. The Hecks family have been making traditional farmhouse cider in Somerset for six generations, since 1841.
The farm shop in Street sells a wide selection of farmhouse and special ciders. As well as home-made Apple Cider Vinegar, Pickles, Chutneys, Eggs, Mustards, Jams, Marmalades, Honey. You’ll find a range of locally packed and produced Cheddar Cheese, Fruit, Vegetables and much more.

Rich’s Cider are a family runbusiness producingtraditionalfarmhouse cider andfarm pressedapple juice, withlocally harvested Somerset apples.
Visit their newly opened Farm Shop packed with hand selected, local Somerset products. From the Butchery Meats from Pyne’s of Somerset, to fresh bread from Winnie’s Bakery and a large selection of cider (of course!) and apple juice.
There is also a restaurant which serves locally produced, freshly cooked food, daily in the open plan kitchen. Here they aim to provide you with a ‘True Taste of Somerset’ as they support local farmers and producers.
You can also book a tour and get the chance to take in the orchards, get up close and personal with the enormous working oak vats, and end the tour with a guided tasting of the full Rich’s Cider product range at the tasting bar with the knowledgeable tour guides.

Harry’s Cider is an award winning artisan cider made from 100% juice, crafted by cidermakers Harry Fry and son Toby on their family farm in Somerset. Harry’s produce a delicious range of traditional, sparkling, fruit and mulled ciders. The Farm Shop, stocking their full range of ciders, is open Monday to Saturday, or buy online.
If you want to book a tour, you can discover the history of Harry’s Cider, take an orchard walk, learn the process of making cider and sample the award winning ciders.

From the Dairy Farm
Where: Lye Cross Farm, Redhill, North Somerset, BS40 5RH
Lye’s Cross Farm is home to The Alvis family, dairy farmers and award-winning cheese makers. As well as dairy cows there is a herd of beef cattle supplying top quality meat to their farm shop.
As well as the butchery and fantastic cheese, the farm shop boasts a delicatessen and bread counters, with milk, bread, fruit and veg delivered daily from the local market.

This family, water buffalo farm produces ethical, sustainable food. The rich creamy milk produced by the herd is used to make award-winning mozzarella, and even lotions and soap.
Their farm shop sells raw water buffalo milk, mozzarella and bocconcini (mini mozzarella) balls, buffalo yoghurt, water buffalo milk ice cream (lots of different flavours), and buffalo milk soap, cream and lotion. You’ll also find other (non-buffalo milk) cheeses such as cheddar.
Discover their West Country water buffalo meat, sold in the farm shop, which is lower in fat than traditional beef and rich in iron and vital minerals. Try their steaks, sausages, faggots, mince and burgers.
The farm shop even has its own caravan/motorhome site which is part of the caravan club. Located behind the shop with views of the water buffalo in the fields.

At Westcombe Dairy they make proper unpasteurised Somerset cheese – such as traditional clothbound Westcombe Cheddar, Duckett’s Aged Caerphilly and Ricotta – using raw milk from their own cows.
Additionally, they also make charcuterie, combining their veal bull calves with pork from Gothelney Farm to create unique takes on classic saucisson, salami, pancetta and more.

Godminster Farm was registered as organic in 1999, with the Farm’s milk turned into Godminster Vintage Organic Cheddar. There’s also orchards with cider apples, peaches, nectarines and grapes.
Godminster farm shop is the home of award-winning organic cheddar in the heart of Somerset. Visit the Shop in Bruton for daily cheese tasting, vodka sampling (fruit-infused vodka spirits), and fabulous guest producers. You’ll find cider, chutneys and deli items.

Butchers Farm Shops in Somerset
Where: Linley Farm, Charlton Musgrove, Wincanton, Somerset, BA9 8HD
The Kimber family have been farming the Blackmore Vale for 350 years. The traditional farm shop and café sell their own Angus beef, lamb, hogget and mutton, Gloucester old spot pork and seasonal poultry, as well as raw milk from the dairy herd, plus lots of other local produce.
Aside from the family run farm shop and cafe, there’s also an online butchery and grocery shop and antique barn. Check out their online shop selling fantastic meat boxes, game, poultry, and deli products.

Situated right next to the adventure park, Puxton Farm Shop and Butchers offers a superb range of fresh produce and locally produced products. The award-winning butchery counter is stocked with their very own farm-fresh, zero food-miles, lamb and beef (grass-fed and free-range).
The Puxton Farm Shop has so many fantastic homemade goods that are produced on site. The shop offers a superb range of seasonal fruit and vegetables, freshly baked bread, cooking ingredients, alcohol and confectionery.
The kids will love the milkshake vending machine!
Through the farm shop is Meadows Restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, after school snacks and a Sunday Carvery (seasonal).

Where: Long Sutton, Langport, TA10 9NJ
A family run farm for three generations and established in 1949, they produce the finest grass fed meats from their Red Rubies, a rare breed pedigree North Devon cattle.
The family’s farm shop sells their sustainably reared, grass-fed and pedigree Beef, Pork and Chicken. The farm shop also sells freshly baked artisan bread, pastries, seasonal fruit and vegetables; and serves everything from coffee to sweets treats, and sandwiches to fresh pasta. You can also buy fresh organic whole milk, also available for refill.
As a sidenote, if cars are your thing, the farmer, Charlie, is a fan of classic and super cars and you’ll find a regular car meet (“the Sunday Service”) being held every Sunday morning, weather permitting.

The family-run farm shop has been in the Hector family for nearly 20 years, and you’ll find a range of quality meats in the butchery on the village high street. Discover the Red Devon beef, whole turkeys (at Christmas), carefully sourced lamb, pork, poultry, free-range eggs and more. Look out for their hand-made burgers, pies, faggots, award winning sausages, pastries and sausage rolls.
You’ll also find a carefully chosen selection of chutneys and preserves, bakery items, organic milk, dairy and store cupboard items.

Four generations have farmed Newton Farms on the Dutchy of Cornwall Land just outside Bath. They have a traditional mixed farm with cattle, sheep, pigs, grain and grass. They’re part of an environmental scheme to protect and enhance the natural environment, no chemical fertilisers or pesticides are used, and are passionate about regenerative agriculture to improve farming practices.
Their award-winning farm shop sells the finest, seasonal locally produced (wherever possible) fresh produce, spirits, wines, beers and ciders. In addition to high quality foods they sell lovely gifts for special presents. Their traditional butchery specialises in home produced, fully traceable, award-winning meats.
Newton Farm Cafe serves breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, Sunday roasts and has a children’s menu. You can eat inside or out in the courtyard.
From the Vegetable Farm

Stowey Rocks Farm is an 80 acre organic vegetable farm on the Quantock Hills in Somerset. The Plowright’s have been farming Stowey Rocks Farm for over 20 years and continue to grow all of the vegetables for their veg box scheme, the farm shop and farmers market in Minehead.
Discover their small self-service farm shop packed with fresh, seasonal organic veg., salad and herbs. You’ll also find fruit, eggs, fresh ginger and turmeric and their delicious Ashmeads Kernel apple juice.
Otherwise shop online for their seasonal vegetable boxes which will be delivered to your door.

The Jeffery Family took over the running of Farrington’s 400-acre working farm in the Somerset village of Farrington Gurney in 1989. They opened their farm shop a couple of years later, selling the best homegrown organic vegetables and homemade produce. Over the year they grow over 80 varieties of seasonal vegetables, all of which are available to buy from their award-winning farm shop. You’ll also find homemade jams, chutneys, cakes, traybakes, pies and quiches, as well as their own range of ready meals using great ingredients. Discover an extensive range of cheeses and homemade goodies on their Deli counter,as well as locally-sourced, high quality meat & poultry on theButchery counter.
For the kids there’s an indoor soft play with climbing equipment, slides and roleplay houses in the playbarn, plus the Playbarn Cafe serving homemade food. In the summer months the kids can play in the straw pool and farm park where they can say hello to the animals.
You’ll find a cafe serving breakfast, lunch and gert posh afternoon tea. If you’re visiting on a Sunday, check out their Sunday Roasts. They even have their own fisn n chip shop which uses their home-grown potatoes.

Trading Post Farm Shop is based on a working organic farm in the Somerset countryside and sells a selection of farm grown organic vegetables, locally sourced food, drink and unusual locally crafted gifts. Pip’s Railway Carridge is next door serving food, tea, coffee and cakes crafted in their on-site bakeshop.

This farm shop sells locally grown, high-quality fruit and vegetables. You’ll find home-grown strawberries from their fruit farm, plus seasonal raspberries, broad beans, runner beans, new potatoes, squash, marrow and pumpkins.
The Cheddar Valley is famous for its strawberries and have been grown in this part of the Mendips since the nineteenth century. The strawberry belt lies at the foot of the fertile south western slopes of the Mendip Hills from Axbridge to Rodney Stoke.

This farm shop was once a stall on the side of the road and has now grown into a thriving store bursting with food from more than 100 local growers, producers and farmers.
You’ll find meat, dairy, free-range eggs, fruit and veg, hand-made goodies such as pies, sausage rolls and quiches; a bakery, groceries and sweet treats. Plus local cider, beer wine and spirits.
They also do catering for business, private parties and cakes.

Generations of the Walrond family have been farming their 90-acre Glebe Farm near Langport, for over 200 years and converted to organic production in 1999.
The farm shop sells their home-reared range of organic meat, eggs and vegetables. You’ll discover organic pork, beef and lamb, home made sausages (including a gluten-free range) and burgers, dry cured organic bacon and hams, plus seasonal fresh organic vegetables picked daily to supply the shop. You’ll also find an extensive range of food and drink products from other local producers including cider, gin, apple juice, ice cream, cheese and butter.
Visit the Pitney Farm Cafe while you’re there, for home-made food using organic meat, eggs and veg picked from the fields right in front of the cafe windows. Everything is prepared on their farm and dishes are made from scratch.

This family owned Farm Shop have been celebrating the people and produce of Somerset for over 40 years. What they grow and produce on the farm is only grown to sell at the farm shop or used to cook tasty food in their eateries on site. This keeps the food miles to a minimum and ensures absolute freshness all year round.
You can buy their home reared pork and beef in their butchers, or their eggs, salads, herbs and veg. You’ll also discover plenty of other local produce, supporting over 80 local farmers, artisan makers, growers and suppliers. This includes fresh bread, milk, veg, cakes, meats, savouries, sweets, fresh fish and salads. Plus you’ll find a selection of beers, ciders and spirits.
Children will love it here too. They can explore the outdoor play areas, play in the sand, give the pedal tractors a spin and say hello to piglets, rabbits, hens, ponies and alpacas.
