Hop into the Wild’ Family Trail, inspired by Disney and Pixar’s “Hoppers”

When: Monday 16th February to Sunday 15th March 2026, 10.30 -16.00.

The National Trust is celebrating the release of Disney and Pixar’s “Hoppers”, in Cinemas 6 March. Discover the ‘Hop into the wild’ family trail, with storytelling and outdoor play.

If you’re a family (with children aged 6-11), come and enjoy the great outdoors, guided by cutouts of the “Hoppers” gang. Collect your discovery passport, explore the animal kingdoms, and most importantly, unleash your wild side!

For those who prefer to explore outside, there is the woodland adventure play area, home farm play area, pavilion play area and sculpture trail. You can also visit the house, and explore the grounds. Tyntesfield is one of our favourite places to go in Somerset with kids.

Trail of Tales

Join the Half Term adventure trail with your family as you explore the gardens at Dunster Castle. Uncover stories from the people who shaped Dunster over the past 1000 years. Discover each character, complete fun activities and solve questions inspired by their stories as you go!

Snowdrop Planting

When: Sat 14th and Sun 15th Feb 2026

There’s also the chance to plant some snowdrops at drop-in sessions between 10am – 12.30pm and 1.30pm – 3pm. Join the gardeners at the River Gardens at Dunster Castle to plant some snowdrop bulbs for yourself or a loved one. Come back year on year to see them bloom.

The snowdrop planting will take place a short walk from the car park towards the Watermill.

When: Saturday 14th February to Sunday 22nd February 2026. From 10.00 am – 16.00. 

Join the National Trust and Quantock Hills team for a muddy half term adventure at Fyne Court in Somerset this half term.

Pick up a nature explorer backpack from the snug this half term and head out for a welly wander with your muddy bingo card.

Throughout February the National Landscapes team are running a series of walks and family activities, including craft and storytelling.

Don’t forget to pick-up a warm treat from the café and explore the second hand bookshop.

Children’s trail: The curious case of the missing acorns

When: Saturday 14th February to Sunday 22nd February 2026, from 9.30 am to 3.00 pm.

Price: Trails are FREE. Normal admission applies to non-members.

Someone has stolen Squirrel’s nuts! This children’s mystery trail will take you through Stourhead’s gardens in search for clues to help Squirrel find the culprit. Pick up your free trail booklet from visitor reception.

When: Saturday 14th Feb – Sunday 22nd February 2026, 10.00 – 5.00pm

Discover the ancient parkland, 17th-century house and garden this February half term. Put on your warm clothes and wellies and young explorers can get involved with activities through the parkland.

Winter parkland bingo sheets will be up for grabs from visitor reception. Youngsters can tick off things in nature to spot, smell, hear or touch, encouraging visitors to immerse themselves in the seasonal landscape of the parkland.

Historical fancy dress clothes will be provided in the Tasting Kitchen, so that visitors can gain an insight into what it would feel like to be a lady or gentleman in the 17th century.

Activities are free of charge (normal admission charges apply).

Liven up the wintery park with countryside crafts (1.00 – 4.20pm), beating drums, music, dancing, hot food and drink, marshmallow-melting fires, and ghost-scaring ceremonies! No need to book, just turn up on the day and enjoy! Get ready to celebrate, Saxon style!

There’s a children’s trail, necklace making, Pooh sticks. clay crafts. colouring in, face painting and leaf crown making.

“Signs of Spring” Half Term Event – [TBC]

Follow the Spring Trail (which will include BSL sign language) this February Half Term at Noah’s Ark. It is always a brilliant day out with so many animals to see, animal talks throughout the day, birds of prey display and small animal meet and greets.

There are play areas, cafes and even picnic benches in the events corner. Plus a musical corner, a new board with ‘New Zoo arrivals’ and ‘Spotted at the zoo.’  There’s plenty to keep the kids entertained all day.

Price: £60/Up to 6 people for 60 minutes.

 Enjoy lamb feeding at Palette and Pasture, followed by an exciting farm tour where you can meet the other delightful farm animals, and get to hand feed the goats. A Farmer is on hand to answer your questions during your session. Please wear appropriate clothing.

Fairies, Forests & Fantastic Adventures February Half Term at Puxton Park

Wolfridge Alpaca Wander (information trail- available all year round):

Follow the trail around the paddocks and learn about why alpacas are special! A map and quiz is available from the café for £1. The walk will take around 30 to 45 minutes to complete, depending on how fast you walk and how much stopping and alpaca watching you do! The route is mostly on grass so suitable footwear is required (especially in the winter months). There is no need to book prior to visiting if you just want to have a wander and enjoy something delicious from the café.

Join the rangers at Chard Reservoir Nature Reserve for Winter in The Wild during Feb Half Term with the kids. Discover what wildlife live at the reservoir during winter and follow the Bonkers Bird Trail to the Guide in the Hide, playing the Hibernation Game.

Build dens with the rangers, followed by a warm drink. Refreshments available to buy (cash only).

Feb Half Term at Ferne Animal Sanctuary

Half-Term Pet Celebration at Ferne!

This half term, share the love for your pets at Ferne, with craft activities such as making masks and bird feeders to take home. Walk around the sanctuary and discover the rescue animals – see birds, farm animals, horses, and the small animals. Join their 4-mile social dog walk, mini pet photoshoot and pet photo caption competition, it promises to be a fun day out for the whole family.

Snowdrop Month

Kick off Half Term with a Snowdrop Walk at The Bishop’s Palace. Wander through 14 acres of breathtaking RHS Partner Gardens, adorned with carpets of delicate snowdrops.

Collect a printed Snowdrop Walk to guide you around the Moat banks, and then across the Willow Bridge to enjoy an Arboretum full of spring flowers. Each weekend little ones can also pick up a Children’s Trail from the Palace Ticket Office.

February Half Term

When: 14-22 February 2026 | 10am – 4pm

Cross the medieval drawbridge and collect a snowdrop trail from the Ticket Office to discover our 14 acres of RHS partner gardens.

If you’re looking for an outdoor activity for kids this February Half Term, enjoy the fresh air, explore the beautiful gardens, and take part in an ‘Art Adventurer’ crafting session (Thurs 19th Feb, 10am-4pm), where you’ll be making Snowdrop pop-up cards. The Stolen Hearts Trail at Hestercombe Gardens

This February half term get outdoors, enjoy nature and have fun taking part in Hestercombe’s Stolen Hearts Trail.

The Stolen Hearts Trail is coming to Hestercombe Gardens 14th–22nd February — and kids go FREE! Bring the whole family! There’s also a giant second-hand book sale running until Feb 22nd with thousands of quality fiction, non-fiction and children’s books available.

Hestercombe is also teaming up with Shepton Snowdrops and some of the best snowdrop gardens in Somerset to create the Great Snowdrop Gardens Trail of Somerset.

Heli Kids Day

Join the volunteer talk on 16th February to explore the iconic Triumph motorcycles and the history of motoring on two wheels, and on 19th February discover just how fast a motorcycle can go. Both talks are included with Museum entry — no booking required, just turn up!

Launching this half term is a brand-new Young Engineers Club, with two exciting sessions on 19th February. Session 1 will teach young engineers how to build a robot and session 2 will cover how to program a robot. Sessions are £5 each with limited spaces available.

Join the C razy Capes & Marvellous Masks craft workshop in the First-Class Dining Saloon, where little heroes can design their very own cape. Bring an old pillowcase (or buy one for £3!*), grab some fabric pens and let your imagination run wild! A celebration of snowdrops at NT Newark Park 

Where: Ozleworth, near Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire, GL12 7PZ

When: 31st January – 1st March 2026, 10.00 – 4.30pm

Newark Park is celebrating the snowdrop as the herald of spring and new beginnings.

In the garden, there will be displays of snowdrops dotted throughout the paths. Discover poetry in the garden that have been inspired by this little white flower dating back to the 19th century.

There will be a free well-being trail as you wander around the garden. As you walk along the paths, look out for the prompts that will lead you on a walk of remembrance, new beginnings and hope inspired by the meanings of this small, delicate flower.

Meanwhile, in the house, there will be an art display of snowdrops. The local community, including schools and volunteers, have been creating snowdrops to display on the ground floor of the house. Learn about the stories and history of the flower whilst taking in the display.

February Half Term Pennywell Farm

Where: Lower Dean, Buckfastleigh TQ11 0LT

When: Opening the doors for the new season on Saturday 14th February 2026.

Pennywell Farm is packed full of animals, activities, shows and displays. There is a new activity every 30 minutes, from bottle feeding to pond dipping, meeting animals and the big show, there’s plenty to keep the kids entertained.
