The Easter holidays are fast approaching and it’s that time of year when the kids will have chocolate coming out of their ears! You’re probably planning a few day trips and Easter activities to get the kids out the house and keep them entertained. There are some egg-cellent Easter events in Somerset and Bristol this year. Read on for what’s on over Easter and some egg-ceptional ideas for fun days out.

National Trust Easter Events in Somerset 2024

Some of the best things to do at Easter with kids can be found at a National Trust property. The National Trust are offering an Easter Trail at most of their locations across the county. Our favourite properties are Tyntesfield in North Somerset and Stourhead on the Wiltshire/Somerset border. There is always lots to explore and you can make a day of it. Check out the list below for your local National Trust property. Normal N.T. admission prices apply and booking is not needed for the Easter trails.

Pop on your bunny ears, follow the eggs and hop around Tyntesfield to find 10 egg-citing Easter activities  and take part in the fun and games. £3 per trail map with bunny ears and edible prize at the end. Collect maps from the gazebo by the cafe.

Also, visit the house, play areas and explore the beautiful grounds.

Dunster Castle Easter Adventure Trail

Friday 29th March to Sunday 14 April 2024.  10.00 – 16.00.  £3 per Trail with a chocolate egg prize at the end.

Join the Easter adventures trail with your family as you explore the nature found in Dunster’s gardens from butterflies to otters. Discover more about the Castle’s life as a fortress.

Easter Egg Hunt at Barrington Court

Thursday 28th March to 14th April 2024.  10.00 – 17.00. £3 per child and includes an activity booklet, paper bunny ears and a chocolate egg at the end.

Join in the Easter fun this spring with the vibrant festival-themed Easter trail. Put on your bunny ears, complete the ten amazing activities around Barrington Court before claiming your tasty prize. 

Easter Egg Hunt at Lytes Cary Manor

Saturday 23rd March to 14th April 2024. 10.00 – 5.00 (last entry 3.30 pm). Trail is £3 per child and includes a trail map and chocolate egg at the end.

Make your way around the trail and find Easter inspired activities for the whole family. Explore the beautiful estate of Lytes Cary Manor along the way.

Easter Egg Hunt at Prior Park

Saturday 23rd March to 1st April 2024, from 10am to 5pm, with last entry at 4pm. Trail cards are £3 per person which includes an Easter trail sheet, bunny ears and dairy or vegan and Free From* chocolate egg.

Follow the trail and find nature-inspired activities for the whole family. Start by painting your face with a fresh spring design, bring your friends and race in wheelbarrows or slow it down and try games based in the past.and complete all activities to claim your Easter egg prize at the end.

Easter Egg Hunt at Montacute House

Join the family-friendly trail with discover ten fun Spring and Easter activity themed points around the gardens. Complete the trail and earn a chocolate egg at the end.

Easter Adventures at Fyne Court

Friday 29th March – Sunday 14th April 2024. 10.00 – 16.00.

  • £3 per Easter trail.

Find the Easter markers in the woodland of Fyne Court, which have fun forest activities getting you close to nature and active in the outdoors. Also, a sneaky spider has set you extra tasks to complete on your adventure, solve all of his puzzles to earn your Easter egg!

Nature-themed craft activities will be running alongside the trail in the music hall, plus games on the lawn.

Easter Family Fun Day at ROAM Outdoors Activity Centre

Take part in the annual Easter family fun day where there’s an Easter Trail for the kids with a prize to win and a fun craft activity. There’s a fabulous woodland space to enjoy with a log trail, slack line, rope swings, climbing tree, mud kitchens and hammocks. Also enjoy delicious cakes and a hot drink in the woods.

Secret World’s Walk on the Wild Side

Taking place on site and the surrounding area, walk the wild trail and learn more about British wildlife and nature along the way!

There are two trails to choose from:

  • 3.4 miles, taking around 3 hours to complete. Enjoy a stroll along the River Brue, ideal for anyone craving an adventure. Most of this route is public rights of way through fields.
  • 1.5 miles, taking around 1 hour to complete. Explore Millennium Wood, perfect for little ones. Half of this walk is along a road, so less mud and stiles to navigate.

Both trails will lead you to various checkpoints with something different located at each one. Starting from their site, you may arrive at any time between 10am and 3pm. Both trails are circular and will bring you back to Secret World Wildlife Rescue. Upon your return, enjoy their educational exhibits and games to complete your Easter adventure.

Refreshments available from Wall Eden Farm where there’s a special discount for all attendees.

The Enchanted Cave – This Easter school holidays, experience an egg hunt with a difference! Discover a charming and magical illuminated trail within Gough’s Cave, where fairies glisten, flowers grow and eggs glow! This fun and interactive trail will keep the whole family entertained.

A mischievous eagle has taken their Easter eggs and hidden them deep within Gough’s Cave. The eagle was last seen in the Diamond Chamber where he is guarding a Giant Golden egg! Can you help find the missing eggs? If you find the missing eggs and ‘crack’ the secret code, there’s a treat waiting for you.

Afterwards, join in the fun Easter arts and craft activities throughout the day.

Easter Egg-citement at The American Museum, Bath

Big Easter Event at Wookey Hole

Bring your little ones along to an adventure in nature at Yeovil Country Park by taking part in the much-loved Spring Trail event. 

Collect a trail sheet from the Friends of Yeovil Country Park gazebo outside Ninesprings Café any time between 11:00am and 14:00pm.

Make your way along the trail and find hidden letters at marked nature-inspired points dotted along the route. Discover the wonders of Springtime in beautiful surroundings, have fun and collect your chocolate egg at the end.

Entry is £3 per child. The trail will take approximately 45 minutes to complete.

Countryside Crafts at Chard Reservoir LNR

Tuesday 9th April 2024 at 10:00 – 13.00 – meet in the playzone for the event.

FREE but donations are welcome (suggested £2).

Join a Countryside Crafts day where you’ll learn to make charcoal out of willow, build a fire out of bracken and you can have a go at toasting your own marshmallows. Then use your very own homemade willow charcoal to create a piece of art!

Learn a new craft over a hot drink and baked goods provided by the Chard Volunteer Group (CASH donations only).

Clifton Village Easter Bunny Hunt

Monday 1st April – Friday 12th April 2024.

Seek out over 30 hidden bunnies all over Clifton Village. This year there are more bunnies and more locations for you to find. If you can find 20 of them you win an Easter Treat and if you can find all of them you will also be entered into a prize draw to win an Easter hamper (supplied by Bar Chocolate). You can find the Easter Bunny Map and Activity Sheets at Otomi and Save the Children.

As well as the Easter Bunny Trail there is also an Easter Disco at Pavey House with lots of activities, organised by Hannah-Rose.

We’re Going on a Bear Hunt at Wild Place Project

The Giant’s Easter Hunt at Clifton Observatory

 Those silly giants have lost their eggs again and need your help finding them all. The eggs are hidden around the Clifton Observatory attractions so you will have to search high up in the tower and deep down in the Giant’s Cave to find them all to win an Easter treat.

The trail is £3.50 per child (age 4 – 14). Purchase tickets online or buy them in reception upon arrival.

Easter Trail at Woodhouse Park Activity Centre

Fernhill, Almondsbury, Bristol, BS32 4LX.

Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th March 2024, 10.00am – 4.00pm. Book a time slot online. £6 per child, £2 adults.

The Easter Bunny has hidden clues for you to find while you’re enjoying a walk around the beautiful grounds. When you find all the clues collect an Easter egg at the end. There are also Go Kart rides (£1 per person) and food available to buy.

Golden Egg Hunt at Old Down Country Park

Saturday 23rd March to Sunday 14th April 2024. 

Hop along to Old Down Country Park with three weeks of egg-citing fun!

There are Easter activities going on around the park, including Easter crafts, scavenger hunt and the Easter Bunny. Events include:

The Brightwell Easter Egg Hunt, Bradley Stoke

Thursday 28th March – Sunday 14th April 2024.  09.00 – 1730. Hosted by the community.

It’s back again this year!

Families will follow trails around the Bradley Stoke area to search for hidden letters displayed on decorated Easter eggs. Once all the letters have been found, children can try to spell out the Easter word or phrase. On completion of the trails, families can bring their completed answer sheets to The Brightwell to receive an Easter surprise for their children. Enjoy a fun photo opportunity to remember this event (one Easter surprise per child per completed trail pack). There will also be the option to enter the Brightwell Easter raffle.

March – December 2024, 10.00am – 5.00pm. Admission Tickets include free unlimited return for one year.

From spring 2024, Brunel’s SS Great Britain will launch their new Victorian botany programme, with living exhibits on the top deck of the ocean liner. Ferns, orchids and other specimens that were transported on board the ship will be planted in six replica Wardian cases. Previously untold stories about the cargo and passengers who travelled on the SS Great Britain, will be revealed, including how plants were transported across the oceans. There will be workshops for both adults and children replicating the activities of travelling scientists and botanists. Throughout the year, visitors can try their hand at flower pressing and Victorian crafts using pressed flowers and create their own cyanotypes – an early photography technique to record plant specimens. A new programme of talks and tours will focus on botanicals and their role in leisure, medicine and cosmetics, and explore the growth of botany as a science and industry in the 19th century.

  • Meet the new pack of African Painted Dogs this Easter, opening in the Drive Through Safari on 29th March.

Easter Eggstravaganza at Roves Farm

Hop along to Roves Farm for lots of Easter fun including:

🐾 Easter Trail – egg hunt with the Easter Bunny (29th March – 1st April only).
🐰 Easter Bunny Show – 2nd – 14th April (once daily).
🍼 Bottle feed the Boer goat kids.
🏃‍♀️ Animal Racing is back – take on their sheep and goats on the race track!
🎡 Family Fun Fair* run by George Scarrott and Son’s Family Fun Fairs
🚜 Tractor ride*

Bing’s Nature Explorers at Slimbridge

WWT Slimbridge, Bowditch, Slimbridge, Gloucestershire, GL2 7BT

Learn all about wetland nature and wildlife with a little help from Bing and his friends.

Avon Valley Railway Chocolate Train

Sunday 31st March and Monday 1st April. (Trains depart Bitton at: 1045, 1200, 1315, 1430 and 1545).

Celebrate Easter at Avon Valley Railway and see the restored locomotive from the Fry’s chocolate factory in Keynsham. Discover more about this special locomotive, see displays on its history and the factory it served and talk to retired employees who worked there.

As a special Easter treat the children get a FREE bar of Fry’s chocolate too!

Easter Egg Trail at Bowood House

Saturday 29th March – Sunday 14th April 2024. 10:30am – 17:30pm (last admissions 16:30).

Join in the fun this Easter with the BIG Egg Hunt in the grounds, find the 10 large eggs hidden in the grounds. Unscramble the letters and guess the word to win a prize.

EASTER WEEKEND: 29th March – 1st April 

The Easter Bunny has hidden five golden eggs around the park, they need to be found daily before it gets dark. Plus one super special egg can also be found, be sure to look everywhere, not just on the ground. A family season ticket pass will be your prize.

Arts and Crafts’ will be available on select dates throughout the event. Try out the adventure playground and explore the beautiful gardens.
