Things to do at Easter with Kids in Somerset and Bristol 2024

The Easter holidays are fast approaching and it’s that time of year when the kids will have chocolate coming out of their ears! You’re probably planning a few day trips and Easter activities to get the kids out the house and keep them entertained. There are some egg-cellent Easter events in Somerset and Bristol this year. Read on for what’s on over Easter and some egg-ceptional ideas for fun days out.

National Trust Easter Events in Somerset 2024

Some of the best things to do at Easter with kids can be found at a National Trust property. The National Trust are offering an Easter Trail at most of their locations across the county. Our favourite properties are Tyntesfield in North Somerset and Stourhead on the Wiltshire/Somerset border. There is always lots to explore and you can make a day of it. Check out the list below for your local National Trust property. Normal N.T. admission prices apply and booking is not needed for the Easter trails.

Saturday 23rd March to Sunday 14h April 2024. 10.00-16.00.

Pop on your bunny ears and hop around Tyntesfield to find 10 egg-citing Easter activities and take part in the fun and games. £3 per trail map with bunny ears and edible prize at the end. Collect maps from the gazebo by the cafe.

Also, visit the house, play areas and explore the beautiful grounds.

Dunster Castle Easter Adventure Trail

Friday 29th March to Sunday 14 April 2024. 10.00 – 16.00. £3 per Trail with a chocolate egg prize at the end.

Join the Easter adventures trail with your family as you explore the nature found in Dunster’s gardens from butterflies to otters. Discover more about the Castle’s life as a fortress.

Easter Egg Hunt at Barrington Court

Thursday 28th March to 14th April 2024. 10.00 – 17.00. £3 per child and includes an activity booklet, paper bunny ears and a chocolate egg at the end.

Join in the Easter fun this spring with the vibrant festival-themed Easter trail. Put on your bunny ears, complete the ten amazing activities around Barrington Court before claiming your tasty prize.

Easter Egg Hunt at Lytes Cary Manor

Saturday 23rd March to 14th April 2024. 10.00 – 5.00 (last entry 3.30 pm). Trail is £3 per child and includes a trail map and chocolate egg at the end.

Make your way around the trail and find Easter inspired activities for the whole family. Explore the beautiful estate of Lytes Cary Manor along the way.

Easter Egg Hunt at Prior Park

Saturday 23rd March to 1st April 2024, from 10am to 5pm, with last entry at 4pm. Trail cards are £3 per person which includes an Easter trail sheet, bunny ears and dairy or vegan and Free From* chocolate egg.

Follow the trail and find nature-inspired activities for the whole family. Start by painting your face with a fresh spring design, bring your friends and race in wheelbarrows or slow it down and try games based in the past.and complete all activities to claim your Easter egg prize at the end.

Easter Egg Hunt at Montacute House

Saturday 23rd March to 7th April 2024, 10.30-16.30. £3 per trail.

Join the family-friendly trail with discover ten fun Spring and Easter activity themed points around the gardens. Complete the trail and earn a chocolate egg at the end.

Easter Adventures at Fyne Court

Friday 29th March – Sunday 14th April 2024. 10.00 – 16.00.

  • £3 per Easter trail.

Find the Easter markers in the woodland of Fyne Court, which have fun forest activities getting you close to nature and active in the outdoors. Also, a sneaky spider has set you extra tasks to complete on your adventure, solve all of his puzzles to earn your Easter egg!

Nature-themed craft activities will be running alongside the trail in the music hall, plus games on the lawn.

Easter Tobogganing at Mendip Activity Centre

Thursday 28th March – Sunday 14th April 2024. (Age 4+) £8 – £14.

Half an hour tobogganing followed by an Easter Themed Orienteering Adventure, and finishing with a slushy and Easter Egg in the Alpine Lounge.

Also, other activities such as Air Rifle, Archery, Axe Throwing and Frisbee Golf available.

Secret World’s Walk on the Wild Side

New Road, East Huntspill, Highbridge, Somerset, TA9 3PZ.

  • 10.00 – 15.00

Adults £3, Children £2, Under 2’s Free.

Taking place on site and the surrounding area, walk the wild trail and learn more about British wildlife and nature along the way!

There are two trails to choose from:

  • 3.4 miles, taking around 3 hours to complete. Enjoy a stroll along the River Brue, ideal for anyone craving an adventure. Most of this route is public rights of way through fields.
  • 1.5 miles, taking around 1 hour to complete. Explore Millennium Wood, perfect for little ones. Half of this walk is along a road, so less mud and stiles to navigate.

Both trails will lead you to various checkpoints with something different located at each one. Starting from their site, you may arrive at any time between 10am and 3pm. Both trails are circular and will bring you back to Secret World Wildlife Rescue. Upon your return, enjoy their educational exhibits and games to complete your Easter adventure.

Refreshments available from Wall Eden Farm where there’s a special discount for all attendees.

This is a dog-friendly event. (Please keep dogs on leads around roads and animals).

Easter Egg Hunt, Beachside Holiday Park, Brean

Cost £1.00 per child. Monies raised from this event will go to their chosen charity for 2024.

Follow the clues around the park to find the Easter Bunny. The Easter Bunny will be hopping around, spreading joy and will have a delicious prize for those that find him.

Dance, sing, and laugh with live music and children’s entertainment all afternoon at the Sundowner Cafe/Bar.

Hide and Sheep Trail at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm

Saturday 1st April – 3rd September 2023. 10.30am – 5pm. Included in admission price.

Noah’s Ark have teamed up with Aardman Animations to stage a baa-rilliant new event for 2023. Get set for a farm-tastic experience as an augmented reality trail starring Shaun the Sheep arrives at Noah’s Ark. Simply download the free app and find the 11 Shaun the Sheep markers around the zoo. The trail is fully accessible to wheelchair users and buggies. Once found these markers will bring Shaun the Sheep to life around the zoo.

Gough’s Giant Egg Hunt at Cheddar Gorge and Caves

Saturday 1st April – 16th April 2023 10.00am – 5.00pm (last entry 4pm),

Trail is included in the price of a day ticket. (Under 5’s are free)

Follow a trail sheet to find your way through the cave. Explore the mysterious chambers and find all the magical, glowing eggs that the Easter bunny has left behind. Your task is to crack the mystery code and you’ll receive a yummy treat.

You’ll also have the opportunity to get hands on with some Easter crafts in the Museum of Prehistory and make your own decorations for your home.

Enchanted Easter at Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park

Saturday 1st April – Sunday 16th April 2023. 10.00 – 1700.

Follow the fairy trail, meet the animatronic and interactive dragon, go on a golden egg hunt, make slime, craft a wand and watch theatre shows. As well as all the usual entertainment, animals and ranger talks, play areas and miniature railway.

Kick off the Easter Holidays with the Bug Out Trail where intrepid explorers will investigate the 14 acres of gardens in search for creepy crawlies. The trail is included in the standard admission price, pay once and visit all year.

Saturday 1st April – Monday 10th April 2023. 10.00am – 5.00pm (Closed Tues 11th Apr). Booking is essential.

Join the new Easter Trail – Pick up an activity sheet and pop on your bunny ears (included in price) and hop off around the farm to see how many eggs the hens have laid. Collect your Easter treat at the end.

There are also animals to see on the way round the trail.

Easter Egg-citement at The American Museum, Bath

Saturday 1st April – Sunday 16th April 2023.

Hunt the colourful eggs in the gardens and answer the question at each egg station to complete the fun trail with a chocolate treat at the end. The trail is an additional £3.

Also enjoy the creative Easter activities at the crafting station every day throughout the holidays. Look out for lambs in the parkland and on certain days enjoy face painting and storytelling.

Easter on the Farm at Somerset Rural Life Museum, Glastonbury

Tuesday 26th March 2024 – 14th April 2024 10.00am – 5.00pm.

There are a whole schedule of Easter activities during the Easter holidays for children at Somerset rural Life Museum. Enjoy family friendly activities including an egg hunt, meet the bunnies and Somerset rivers arts and crafts.

Big Easter Event at Wookey Hole

Saturday 23rd March – Sunday 14th April 2024. 0930 – 1730 (last admission at 1600).

Join in with an Easter egg hunt around the park. The witch loves to celebrate Easter at Wookey Hole. Every child will take home an Easter treat (included with usual admission prices). There are three circus shows a day as well as adventure golf, a 4D cinema and the caves to explore.

Take part in Weston Hospicecare’s and Uphill Village Society Easter Egg Trail. Follow a beautiful trail through the picturesque Uphill Village solving clues and discovering hidden eggs along the way.

Each entry is £5 per child and on completion of the trail includes a medium-sized easter egg.

Join the hunt to find the Giant’s eggs lost somewhere in the Observatory. Answer the questions along the way to find the special prize at the end. The trail is £2.50 per child. Purchase tickets online or buy them in reception upon arrival.

Easter Trail at Woodhouse Park Activity Centre

Fernhill, Almondsbury, Bristol, BS32 4LX.

Saturday 1st April – Sunday 2nd April 2023. 10.00am – 4.00pm. Book a time slot online. £6 per child, £2 adults.

The Easter Bunny has hidden clues for you to find while you’re enjoying a walk around the beautiful grounds. When you find all the clues collect an Easter egg at the end. There are also Go Kart rides (£1 per person) and food available to buy.

Golden Egg Hunt at Old Down Country Park

Saturday 1st April – Saturday 15th April 2023. 10.00am – 5.00pm.

Your mission is to find the hidden golden egg around the park. The first person to find it and hand it in wins a prize. Egg hunt is included in admission price.

There are also lots of other Easter activities going on around the park: Easter biscuit decorating, Easter pottery painting, Easter maze trail as well as exploring the country park.

The Brightwell Easter Egg Hunt, Bradley Stoke

Saturday 1st April – Sunday 16th April 2023. 09.00 – 1730. Hosted by the community.

Families will follow trails around the Bradley Stoke area to search for hidden letters displayed on decorated Easter eggs. Once all the letters have been found along each of the four trails, children can try to spell out the Easter word or phrase. On completion of the trails, families can bring their completed answer sheets to The Brightwell to receive an Easter surprise for their children. Enjoy a fun photo opportunity to remember this event (one Easter surprise per child per completed trail pack). There will also be the option to enter the Brightwell Easter raffle.

Saturday 1st April – Sunday 16th April 2023. 10.00am – 5.00pm. Admission Tickets include free unlimited return for one year.

Complete the Easter Creatures Trail with a chocolate reward at the end. Pick up a map at the Visitor Centre and help Captain John Gray find all the missing creatures on board the ship. This Easter Holiday you are also invited to sample traditional Victorian puddings. Inspired by the First Class Bill of Fare (menu) during the SS Great Britain’svoyage from Australia in 1861.

There are some cracking Easter Events a bit further afield, in Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, for the family to get involved with.

Alice in Wonderland Easter Eggstravaganza at Longleat

Saturday 1st April – Sunday 16th April 2023. 10.00am – 6.00pm (7pm Bank Holidays).

Wander into Wonderland to join Alice, The Queen of Hearts and the White Rabbit for an immersive experience during the Easter events at Longleat. Keep an eye out for Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee as you explore, get creative making origami roses for the Queen of Hearts’ Love Maze, have a game of mini golf in the weird and wonderful Tulgey Wood and celebrate an un-birthday to remember with The Mad Hatter himself!

Eggstraordinary Egg Hunt at Clearwell Caves

Saturday 1st April – Sunday 16th April 2023. Admission 10.00am – 3.30pm. Usual admission prices (Under 4’s are Free).

The Woodland birds have hidden their nests of eggs all through the caves for you to spot, some easier to find than others!

Fun for all the family, every entry will be entered into the Grand Easter Prize Draw, with a chance to win goodies from the Gift Shop.

Entry sheets are included in the admission price.

Duck Detectives at Slimbridge

Open 7 days a week, 364 days a year. 9.30am – 5.30pm in April (last entry 4.30pm).

Can you quack the clues on the Easter Trail and solve the case of the missing duck to win prizes? Discover more about the wonderful wetlands at Slimbridge with daily activities such as visiting the hides, splash about in welly boot land, run wild in Riverlife playground and head to Toad Hall to meet colourful amphibians from all around the world.

Get crafty this Easter and create your own magnifying glass with a creature on! (Art Hub 10am – 4.00pm).

Avon Valley Railway Chocolate Train

Sunday 9th & Monday 10th April 2023. (Trains depart Bitton at: 1045, 1200, 1315, 1430 and 1545).

Celebrate Easter at Avon Valley Railway and see the restored locomotive from the Fry’s chocolate factory in Keynsham. Discover more about this special locomotive, see displays on its history and the factory it served and talk to retired employees who worked there.

As a special Easter treat the children get a FREE bar of Fry’s chocolate too!

Wonderland Easter Egg Trail at Bowood House

Saturday 1st April – Sunday 16th April 2023. 10:00am – 17:00pm (last admissions 16:00).

Join in the fun this Easter with the BIG Egg Hunt in the grounds, find the eggs, unscramble the letters, and guess the word to win a prize. Create your own ‘Mad Hatter’ teacup in the Gardeners’ Bothy on Saturday 15thand Sunday 16th April (£5 per child), have your face painted in a Wonderland theme (fee), try out the adventure playground and explore the beautiful gardens.
