Autumn in Somerset is one of the most beautiful times of year. The orchards are heavy with apples, the air smells of cider-making, and historic estates celebrate the harvest with festivals, tours, and family days out. If you’re planning seasonal outings, there are plenty of family-friendly apple and harvest events in Somerset to enjoy this September and October 2025.

It’s the season to celebrate Somerset’s cider-making heritage, while also enjoying pumpkin festivals, vineyard tours, and countryside adventures. From cider tastings and orchard fruit picking to autumn craft fairs, here are the best events to add to your diary.

Railway Inn Harvest Day, Sandford

Date: Saturday, 6 September 2025, 12 pm – 4 pm
Location: The Railway Inn, Sandford (near Thatchers Cider)

Kick off the season at the Railway Inn Harvest Day in Sandford. This relaxed, family-friendly afternoon features apple juice making, tastings, tractors and a warm community atmosphere. Along with live music from Preseli Pete and The Bluestone Boys from 1pm – 3pm.

It’s the perfect way to start celebrating harvest time—and you can even combine it with a stroll along the nearby Strawberry Line or a visit to Thatchers Farm Shop.

Wraxall Vineyard Tours & Tastings

Dates: Tour and tastings available Wednesdays – Saturdays, September – October 2025. Tours will run up until the end of October and Tastings will continue throughout the autumn.

Location: Wraxall Vineyard, Wraxall, Shepton Mallet, BA4 6RQ

Explore one of Somerset’s oldest vineyards this autumn with guided tours through the vines to admire the grapes before harvest. Try award-winning English wines (adults only). Families are welcome to enjoy the picturesque surroundings.

Apple Day at The Newt in Somerset

Dates: Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th October 2025

Location: The Newt, Bruton

Families can celebrate “Apple Day Weekend” at The Newt in Somerset with apple pressing, cyder tastings, orchard tractor tours, and apple-themed treats for all ages.

Expect live music, apple-themed menus as well as their ever popular BBQ with estate meats and vegetables cooked over fire.

Price: Guest Pass Tickets for the Estate Events, including Apple Day Weekend, are to £30 if pre-booked and £35 if purchased at the gate.

Harvest Weekend at The Newt in Somerset

Dates: Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st September 2025

Location: The Newt, Bruton

Details: Celebrate the autumn equinox at The Newt with seasonal food, music, and family-friendly activities. Explore the gardens, enjoy crisp cyder, and take part in guided Kitchen Garden tours.

Family-Friendly Features: Hay bale dancing, Newtling activities for kids, BBQ fare, and tractor rides through the orchards.

Pumpkin Festival at Hauser and Wirth Somerset

Date: Saturday 25th October 2025, 11 am – 4 pm

Location: Bruton, Somerset

Details: Celebrate the end of harvest with pumpkin-themed activities, live music, and seasonal food.

Family-Friendly Features: Pumpkin games and competitions, seasonal treats, pumpkin-spiced drinks, and creative workshops.

Visit Oudolf Field from 10 am, and then explore the exhibition, ‘Niki de Saint Phalle & Jean Tinguely. Myths & Machines’ and Education Lab, ‘Our Imaginary World’ from 12 pm.

Roth Bar will be open for drinks from 9 am, with Da Costa serving lunch from 12 pm. Shop local produce at the Farm Shop from 9 am.

This event is free, with no advance booking required.

Burrow Hill Cider Bus Saturdays – Autumn 2025

The Burrow Hill Cider Bus is a familiar sight at Glastonbury Festival, and this is your chance to experience it in its home setting. Perfect for soaking up Somerset’s cider heritage on a crisp autumn weekend.

Bere Cider Company – Food, Music & Cider Events

Dates: Various weekends, September and October 2025

Location: Bere Cider Company, Bere Aller, near Langport

The Bere Cider Company is a lively spot for autumn celebrations, with events that combine Somerset cider, great food, and live music. Their orchard setting makes it a fun and relaxed place to enjoy the harvest season, and it’s popular with both locals and visitors looking for authentic Somerset experiences.

Keep an eye on their socials for dates of food-and-music nights this autumn—it’s cider, community, and countryside at its best.

A little different from the traditional harvest fairs, Langport Bike Night on Wednesday 11th September, featuring bikes, music, a bar, and BBQ food. It’s a lively community event that draws people from across Somerset.

North Perrott Fruit Farm – Apple Weekend, Apple Picking & Farm Shop

Location: North Perrott Fruit Farm, Crewkerne, Somerset

North Perrott Fruit Farm is one of Somerset’s best-loved family orchards. During the autumn season, families can enjoy pick-your-own apples and pears straight from the trees. With plenty of space for kids to explore and a farm shop full of seasonal produce, jams, chutneys, and freshly harvested fruit, it’s a perfect countryside day out.

Apple Weekend at North Perrott

Dates: Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th October 2025.

Each year, North Perrott hosts an Apple Weekend, celebrating the harvest with apple displays, tastings, and family-friendly activities.

It’s a chance to try new apple varieties, learn about Somerset’s apple-growing traditions, and enjoy a fun, seasonal day together. It’s one of the best places for Somerset orchards and apple picking 2025, with seasonal varieties ready for harvest.

Don’t miss the vintage tractor display and ploughing demonstration in the field opposite the farm shop.

Plus, there’s a local craft fair in the Village Hall to coincide with the Apple Weekend event. There’s plenty going on to celebrate apple and harvest events in Somerset.
